NDWBF 2023: Check Out the Highlights from Day 1 and Day 2
The New Delhi World Book Fair 2023 has returned to the National Capital after Covid hiatus.on Feb 28, 2023
The ongoing New Delhi World Book Fair 2023 is witnessing tremendous enthusiasm from book lovers. People from all over the world are attending the event and are keeping the reading culture alive in the digital world.
Commemorating India's 75 years of independence with the "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav '' theme, the book saw a grandeur celebration of books on the inauguration day. Dharmendra Pradhan, Education Minister of India, Nobel Laureate and Author Annie Ernaux, Yuvraj Malik, Director at National Book Trust India, Pradeep Singh Kharola, President ITPO, Govind Singh Prasad, President National Book Trust India, and Emmanuel Laina, France Ambassador to India, attended the inauguration ceremony of one of the most prominent literature events.
Day 1 Highlights
Some of the main highlights of Day 1 featured an address by Nobel Laureate Annie Ernaux, where she talked about her experience of visiting India for the first time and said, "Coming to India for the first time is a childhood dream come true, one instilled in me by a forgotten author, Francis de Croisset, and his 1930 book, Nous Avons Fait Un Beau Voyage (trans: We Had a Good Travel), about his stay in India." She also said that India has drastically transformed since independence and has managed to preserve a mesmerizing artistic richness.
The Fair included different Pavilions- (Children's, NEP, and Theme), International, YUVA, Authors' Corners, Panel Discussions, Book Launches, and Cultural Events.
The Theme Pavillion conducted Prime Talk with Author Ashwin Sanghi, PM-YUVA session with Sandhu Yadvinder, Grandson of Martyr Bhagat Singh, Shaurya Gatha event with Sub Maj Sanjay Kumar PVC.
The International Events and YUVA corner witnessed Round Table Discussion with French Graphic Novelists, An Hour with Children Book Star Susie Morgenstern, and a Meet session with author Annie Ernaux.
Other highlights included the Book launch of "Storytelling Made Easy" organized by Pitambar Publishing Company Limited, a Seminar on "The Eternal Spiritual Science of Kriyayoga as Revived by Household Yogi- Yogiraj Shyamacharan Lahiree Mahasaya, a panel discussion on "Passive Wealth Creation" organized by Pendown Press, Nukkad Natak, Dance performances, and Kavi Samelan by Rekha Foundation.
Day 2 Highlights
The significant highlights of the Day 2 of the New Delhi World Book Fair 2023 included a Prime Talk session with Nitasha Devasare and Commander Gaurav Sahai, a Book Launch session, and a Discussion of "Haryana: Bhasha Sahitya Avam Sanskriti" by Author Purn Chand Sharma, Tribal Writers' Meet organized by Sahitya Akademi under the Theme Pavillion.
The NEP Pavillion hosted PM-YUVA Authors' sessions and a session on the Role of Academia in Strengthening the G20 Presidency organized by ASSOCHAM. The Authors' Corner organized Book Discussions on "Life is Abracadabra" with Speaker Baisakhi Saha, "I Was Judge's Orderly" with Speaker Hon'ble Justice Talwant Singh, HC, Delhi, and Justice P S Teji, Former Judge, HC, Delhi Chairman, Policy Complaint Authority, GNCT, Delhi.
In addition, the NDWBF 2023 is organizing various literary and cultural events. Under the Prime Minister's YUVA (Young Upcoming Versatile Author) initiative, 75 writers selected after a competition and trained by seasoned writers will launch their books during the expo.
